What is crime? Crime is any act that breach the law of any country you are at.Not every crime violates the law. There some violations of law such as breaches of contract and of other civil law may rank as "offences" or as "infractions".
Why do people commit crimes? There are in general some factors for why people do it. It is based on their temptations, emotions, their needs because of poverty and doing things which they don’t care about the consequences faced. Because of temptations such as drugs they became dependent on those drugs and become addicted to it. Eating harmful and illegal drugs is already a crime but the addiction that the drug provides for them makes them wanting for more and they cannot stop the addiction for it. Another thing is the social environment the person is living in. if the place he leaves in is often violent and abusive he will most probably adopt these actions as his own and thus become violent and murderous himself. Most crimes are committed for a reason. Such as stealing. Stealing can involve the excitement and exhilaration that the experience gives that individual. They yearn this sensation that’s why they resort to stealing to entertain themselves. Another reason is to steal because of survival. Imagine not eating for four days and theres a bread store in front of you but you have not a penny. Would you rather steal or eat the stuff in those rubbish cans nearby?
Just like the environment the person is living in. if the person is living in a violent and abusive area he will too be violent and abusive. This applies for the media too. Exposing violence through the television to the kids at home causes them to learn these stuffs which wil then carry on in their later year of life. They can become violent if they are exposed too much of these in an early age. Crime shows such as CSI can also spark ideas for individuals you wants or need to commit a crime but do not know how to go about it. They can lift these ideas from these shows to their liking and modify it to suit their situation.
People who are exposed to pornographic material puts one at an increased risk of wanting to commit sexual offences and the decrease of “available” porn has led to the rise of people committing such offensive acts because of sexual dysfunction and family breakdowns.

How media and games influence crime
With technology being much more advanced games now have much more updated graphics and realism thus more people are playing games now too. Most games are violent thus this can serve as influences to an individual to be violent and aggressive. Games are targeted to sell to the teenagers. Games pose a much better influence compared to television shows or books. The risk of teenagers committing a crime thus is much higher.
